Contract Information
The first year of contract will be probationary with the possibility of further extension subject to satisfactory performance. This post is limited to local status* only. *Local status requires applicants to have unhindered permission to live and work in the UK.

Salary
Approximately £32,268 net per annum, (subject to deductions), free of income tax in the UK. Excellent benefits including medical insurance and UN pension scheme.
Purpose of the Post
Under the immediate supervision of the Head Chef, and the overall supervision of the Catering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for a variety of duties in support of the smooth running operation of the IMO staff restaurant and various official functions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare food for restaurant service, maintaining constant supply of food, as required.
2. Prepare food for formal lunches/dinners or evening functions, as required.
3. Check correct stock level on working section and leave all areas hygienic, clean and tidy.
4. Assist other chefs, as necessary.
5. Assist the Head Chef in the supervision of agency chefs.
6. Deputize for the Head Chef when necessary.
7. Carry out any other kitchen duties, as may be required.
Required Competencies
a) High integrity, ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and with a profession and positive attitude.
b) Proven ability to prioritize, plan and organize work and varied resources, combined with attention to detail.
c) Good time management, flexibility of approach; high level of initiative.
d) Ability to interact harmoniously with a wide range of people at all levels and to work as part of a team ion an international environment.
Professional Experience
Minimum of four years professional kitchen experience, preferably gained within the hospitality industry, diplomatic mission or similar.
Education
Secondary education or a recognized equivalent, Hotel and Catering Industrial Training Board Food and Hygiene Certificate.
Language Skills
Good level of spoken and written English; knowledge of any other official UN language would be an advantage.
Other Skills
City and Guilds certificate 706/1, 706/2 in Professional Cookery is required or an updated equivalent.
